When is Practice?
Practices are tentatively scheduled for Sundays from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM. The locations will be released at a later date.
The first day of practice is Sunday, October 5th. Practices will run from October 5th until the day of Turkey Bowl. Any practices held outside of the designated time slot will not count against playing time.
Every practice will begin with a Team huddle, where we will go over important updates, a devotional, etc. Students who skip the team huddle will not be able to participate in practice for that day and this will be considered an unexcused absence unless prior approval has been granted by the Pastors.
What should I bring to Practice?
All Flag Football equipment such as practice equipment, Game Day Jersey, Flag Belts, etc. will be provided by ODPC and is covered in the registration fee.
The following items should be brought to practice:
At least a 32 oz. Water Bottle
Practice Outfit: Please bring practice attire with you on Sundays.
Shoes/Cleats: Metal Cleats are not allowed.
Shorts: It’’s important to wear shorts that don’t have pockets. This allows the belt and flags to be visible at all times, avoiding unnecessary penalties. It also is a safety precaution so that fingers don’t get stuck when attempting to remove the flag.
Mouthguard (Optional): This is the only protective gear that players wear. This item is not required but recommended.
Football Gloves (Optional): Some players prefer to use football gloves, which give extra grip to help control the ball. This item is not required.
Expectations & Requirements
Please read through the policy to participate in Turkey Bowl:
Attendance: Student attendance for Sunday or Friday Service must be consistent until Turkey Bowl [80%]
Practice: Cannot have more than 2 unexcused absences
Conduct & Sportsmanship: Unsportsmanlike conduct (i.e. trash talking, bullying, harassment, using racial slurs, etc.), when demonstrated by any individual associated with Turkey Bowl, will not be tolerated and may subject the individual to disciplinary action. No exceptions will be made.
